I was reading the latest mares thread earlier - all positive, of course, and always an enjoyable read - but I had to laugh again at how far my girls are from your stereotypical moody mares. Morning, evening, or even the middle of the night, when I go down to the field, they always come charging across and present these two very gorgeous noses for carrots, cuddles, and plenty of kisses. I honestly couldn't tell you what either one of them looks like with their ears back!

Anyone else got equally adorable snuggle bugs, because these two make my heart burst!

Mine arent as adorable as yours! They definitely get the cute fluffy trophy :D

The gelding in my pic is up for nose kisses...as you can see...he’s gets his noz into everything!

I realised the other day that a huge reason i am in love with horses is because of their sweet warm breaths on my face lol! My gelding did it to me and transported me instantly to childhood hugs with a favourite riding school pony who loved to breathe on me. I recall the scent of their sweet breath...it’s actually a memory of comfort. :)

Me. We affectionally call her the attention whore. She loves everyone. Shes also into everything. We had to move her stables as she was in a little block of the main yard and she was going nuts. We moved her on the main yard and she was instantly happy. She couldnt cope with being round the back in the quiet knowing people were on the main yard and she couldnt see them!

If she had her way someone would stand and cuddle her all day long!

I haven’t measured her recently, but May and Mary are exactly the same size. May did overtake her mum briefly in the summer, but then Mary had a growth spurt of her own and took the lead again. There’s not even a centimetre between them now!

I’m also convinced that May is going to be just as substantial as her mum. I did think she’d be a slightly lighter model for a time, given that her sire isn’t an overly heavy Welsh D, but you should see the bone and the build on her!

Mind you, looking back through her pedigree on the Welsh side and having seen pictures of her relatives, her grandma is a very old-fashioned, heavyset D mare, so I guess she has those genes on both sides.

How old is May this year? 3? She looks really grown up.

Mr M should win olympic medals for his kissable nose. I pay his feed bill so I can snog this nose (& the image is huge so you can all appreciate it ;) )
