The "my horse is broken at the moment" club

Yes I am in too...my lad has a hoof abbscess that will not erupt - vet came yesterday to try and find it but no joy - she thinks it is going to track up through the coronet band.
Whilst there she also mentioned that he may have mild laminitis as both front digitals are up, as I had found previously and she is not sure whether it is hust weight bearing problems because of the abscess or food related. So I am doing all the necessary upon vets advice and hoping and praying the abscess at least appears to relieve someof the discomfort for him...then I have a major re-think on his future management - even though the vet thought I was doing everything right already - ridden every day, hay only diet, restricted grazing - same eaten down paddock since last winter...no treats etc etc

How angry was I...? after quite alot of time off I was bringing her back into work full time this week now can't ride her for at least a week or even 2. Told YO i was putting her back in the old paddock and today she has improved...I know ehats best for my horses and I wish my yo would butt out. Well you should call it laminitis as that is exactly what she has got! As for not working her for a week or two she shouldn't be worked for at least a month. I suggest you read the Laminitis Clinic website and update yourself on the extremely painful and debilitating disease your horse is suffering from.

And I wanted to post something when I read your post, jay-d, but couldn't find the words; however, I want to know why you are blaming your YO? I don't understand this blame culture - your horse, your responsibility to check the field and whether it is suitable, possibly muzzle the horse and tightly restrict its grazing. If it's recently got over a bout of lami, it should be severely restricted still anyway, and you certainly should not be working the horse after a couple of weeks. Your YP may have provided a field you didn't like, but it was then your responsibility to not turn your horse out onto it and is therefore your responsibility, not the YO's, that your horse got sick. Also, forget putting the pony in the old paddock - she needs to be on box rest if she has lami.

Tocha's lame with suspected growth plate problems. Vets are back out this afternoon to do nerve blocks and investigate further

Me as well or does that make me 24? Anyway bruised front feet that are taking a long time to come right (off since mid march) and I now think we have some nasty back issues which have stemmed from it to sort out as well.

Missy is now doing her nut in ....Box rest isnt going down at all

... Poor baby is fustrated and wondering why she can't get out to the field with the others .

Shes had a blood clot on her hind .... had scan 2 weeks ago now and had fluid drawn from the fetlock to see if there was any infection .
Been walking her inhand ....which is OOOhhh so much fun

...Shes been in 4 weeks already . Another 3 weeks to go . Vet suggested trying to lunge her in walk, So I decided to tack her up last night and stick side reins on her so she wasn't noseying around her . Well the first 10 mins went great until someone fired a shotgun next field up .... and then all hell broke loose ....The madam reared as high as she could go followed by buck !! buck !! buck !! BUCK !!!! BUCK !!! at this stage got her pulled back in without trying to strain anything

Enough was enough then and she had to go back into the stable .....

She gets a further scan next week to see if there is any scaring to the tendon ....So fingers crossed
