... Give it a big hug!
My friends horse died suddenly today whilst out hacking. He was only 17 years young; they think it was a heart attack. This has come as a huge shock to everyone who knew him and he will be missed greatly.
My thoughts are with his owners at this sad time. :(
RIP Ashley (Mr. Bash)

How terrible for you all especially your poor friend. Maybe one day she can take comfort from the fact he has never suffered and died on a fun hack. Heart attacks although so distressing are quick and the horse wouldn't have known much about it at all- not that that will ease the pain right now. Big hugs x

Thanks for all the messages, I will pass on your condolences in the morning. So sorry to hear that some of you have had similar experiences. We have to make the most of the time we have with our horses.

I'm so sorry to read this post :( ((((((((((hugs))))))))))) to everyone who knew him esp his owners.

I treasure every moment good (and not so good ;)) that I have with my horses because you never know when they will be gone :(

RIP Beautiful horse. xx

Do you its funny I havent seen my horse since Sunday afternoon and due to work commitments I wont see him again till tomorrow night and I was thinking just the same thing.

how awful, what a nice boy too hugs x

Thank you for all the kind messages! He is a very special boy to so many people! He taught alot of people so much and gave most the ride of thier life. Hes been in our family from a year old, we watched him be born in a feild in our village and grow from a very weak poor foal ( vets gave him 3 weeks to live) to a very handsome, strong boy with a brave heart of gold. My grandma owned him all through his life with my auntie riding him when he was young and taught him everything he knew. I then rode him from the age of 8, i was 12 and pretty new to competing but he kept me safe and showed me the way! After he retired from competing at the age of 15 a freind from our yard took him on loan and loved every hair on his body and catered for his every need. I had only been riding him again for a few weeks when he passed. It was awful but it gives me peice of mind that his final monents were doing what he enjoyed and a place he was familiar with and I was by his side all the way through. He had a heart of gold and a unforgettable cheeky character. The attached photo is my boy in his hay day doing what he did best, fast, brave, and safe! Its only been a few days but i miss him, the yard isnt the same without him. To me he was one in a million and will never be replaced. I love my boy and his legend will live on! RIP Ashy Bashy, I love you, you will always be in my heart! Remeber every time ou see your horse give them a massive hug at tell you how much you love them!! x x x x x x
