Just had a call from Willersleys to say that Spikes KS operation has finished and that he came round ok and is now up and munching on some hay.

I can not begin to say what a relief it is that it is now over.

I am going to try and take photos of him every week so that we can see how he changes over his recovery period.

This was Spike yesterday just before we left for the 4 hour drive to Willesleys.

He did yes. He seems like such a nice guy and is really positive about the results of this operation. Can't wait to get our boy home now

I hadn't realised that Spike had been diagnosed with KS. Can I ask what the main symptoms were? I still wonder if the horse (which looked very like your Spike) that I bought for OH and which turned out to be unrideable had kissing spines. I voiced my concerns to the vet but was dismissed but I still think that it may have been a possiblilty.

So the first thing was that he was nervous to mount we overcame that and started hacking him out and all was fine until he started getting fitter. If you started using your seat to slow him down then he would suddenly bolt off and just throw in massive bucks until rider was unseated. Thats it in a nutshell really!!
