I only got about 20 secs in and turned off - what a load of crap.
From covering to foaling is 11 months. For valuable flat mares the aim is to foal as close to Jan 1st as possible.
So say a mare foals 5th Jan - what are they gonna do?
Breed a foal to be born in December??
Clueless muppets.
If this was so common we wouldnt see ads on the racing like there was yesterday asking for a foster mare.
We actually got a foal that was born and rejected together with another mare who's foal had died which is hugely satisfying.
Both friends of mine who had bad luck on the same day but at opposite ends of the country .
Foal was at a big stud in Newmarket so if it was that common surely they would have done it rather than transport a mare from Wales.
speaking as someone who has worked in some of the worlds top studs as a foaling person, having a nurse mare about the place is common practice esp in ireland and the states. however the mares are chosen for their placid temperment and often suckle both foals with no adverse effects exactly as if they had twins. We certainly never did a running trade in nurse mares. however at one stud i was at we foaled over 200 mares and didnt lose a single one so use of such surrogates hardly an everyday requirement. most TB studs have enough staff that if they need to hand rear they can.

See this is what annoys me about this kind of b*llshit propoganda. It's very rarely produced using facts and 'evidence' rom those within the industry. It's all emotive clap trap. These people would be better off putting there efforts into something worthwhile than trying to inflate their already oversized egos by trying to make themselves appear morally superior to everyone else
