I had my first lesson on my favourite RS horse yesterday after 3 months layoff due to a broken collar bone. This was my second lesson but the first was on old MrPlod last week and I was fine after that. However one hour of active trot and yet more active canter has left me stiff and sore all over and I've discovered all the areas affected by the fall. Oohhhh..:o I've been hacking out for over a month but it seems that it's not been that beneficial muscle wise. Off to find the ibprophen now.

Well done you have taken the first step to get back into the saddle.
No surprise about the stiffness. Do you have an exercise program from your physio to help ease your stiff muscles ?

I find those heat patches useful - the heat lasts for up to 8 hours and they may help prevent stiffness.

:)
I'd forgotten about those pads. They are really good so am going to stock up. Mind you I ached in so many places last week that I'd have to cover myself in the things :D. I've been "not very good" at doing the exercises the physio gave me recently.
I do go for Alexander technique lessons and that's really helped recovery.. But not exercised induced aches.:o. Was much better after Fridays lesson.
