Arhh! Just a moan really, my loan pony has gone lame. When I went to get him from the field and he was stood a little funny, but I couldn't see anything so put it down to just how he was standing (trying to avoid his 16.2hh girlfriend stalker

), got him in, tacked up and went in the school, he seemed a bit uneven in walk and the second i trotted him i just stopped again as he was pretty much hopping on his off fore. Poor little pony

I feel like a right idiot for not spotting it sooner but i'm not very experienced with lameness. We think he's just been playing in the field and sprained something, but he had new shoes this morning so it could be to do with that?

If he's just been shod I would give the farrier a call before you have the vet.

He will know if the horse reacted to any of the shoes going on, and if he's in your area again today he will probably to be happy to pop in and see if the shoes or an abcess is causing the problem.

For your to find your pony lame within such a short time of a farrier visit would probably mean that it is as a result of the shoeing. It could be nail bind, could have been trimmed back too much, whatever, but I would call the farrier & ask him to come back & have a look. A good farrier should return to you promptly. If it appears that the shoes are fine then you may need a vet to examine further, but farrier would be my first point of call. Good Luck
