Anyway, a break from this site is down to my beloved Charlie going over the rainbow bridge in August., I have decided now that it's time to move on, as I just can't see Wellie standing alone in the field anymore. I have seen a beautiful welsh x arab, 14.1h, everything I want for a reasonable price...however I would like to know if my aunt would be able to ride him, as we go out together sometimes. She's around 10stone 3lbs, so 10 and half stone to be on the safe side. I may be just being silly, but I'd like to if he'd be able to carry this safely, and if so, what would be his weight limit? :):)

im the same weight and to be honest i wouldn't feel comfortable riding a 14.1 pony, especially an arab welsh cross.

She would be absolutely fine! Arabs carry weight.

I rode my 13.3 tank of a sec D mare at nearly 13 stone (my heaviest) and she was absolutely fine! I have lost weight for her now mind, am now 10st 13lb and still losing it but she never has troubles and I get her regularly checked by physio who cannot find a problem so!
I'm breeding my next horse out of her to an Arab stallion so should get a nice middleweight sort which depending on height could carry weight.

An Arab is one of the best weight carriers due to its compact back and high bone density. Much better at carrying weight than a 17hh long back horse.

Your aunt would be absolutely fine.

Firstly sorry for your loss :(
I would be fine with it. I ride a 14.1 arab who is also ridden by a much bigger friend. Arabs are built to carry weight. I have a friend who has a few arabs for endurance, one mare is 14.2 and ridden by a 13st man.
No problems at all :)

My daughter is around your weight and her pony is a 14.1 part bred Arab, she also rides a 13.2hh Welsh B, both carry her without the slightest issue and I would not worry.
