My two beautiful rescue ponies arrived today. They are a little nervous right now. But have their heads down munching away on their grass. They really are the cutest little beasties. I'm already in love. I'm also incredibly happy I can give these two a lovely life a world away from their hideous start. It's a first for me with my own land. I will admit I'm a little nervous for now. But when I look at what life I can offer them it fades away.
I'm just not used to having a horse that lives out 24/7. Mine have always come in at night. I have a shelter for them but at the moment they won't come anywhere near it. So when I checked on them tonight I was greeted with two drowned rats. I wish they would venture into the shelter. But I'm sure they will when they are ready.

You could try putting hay in the shelter to entice them in there but tbh, if they have tummies full of grass they will most likely be fine. If they don't want to go into the shelter, they can still stand behind it to keep out of the worst of the weather.

Enjoy!

Thanks. I'm sure they will go in eventually. I just find it hard to see them soaking wet and shaking their heads to get the water off them.

Your post makes me think about the saying You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink. Just relax, be patient, and hopefully they'll eventually start to use their shelter.

I hope you have lots of fun with them. :)

Good on you that's lovely for giving them a home and yes we need pics !

As for shelter put feed/hay in there they will soon find their way or if they allow you to put collar and lead rope on lead them in there and give a nice groom. Mine lives out 24/7 so that's where I groom him.

Oh and what are their names?

Mine have been training me for several years that they don't do indoor shelter in wet weather, only in hot weather. I still struggle with this but it's their choice!

Not sure how to put a pic up
Open an account on www.photobucket.com (it's free) upload your pic(s) onto there then copy and paste onto your thread the code beginning and ending with

I haven't tried it myself, but on my HHO View profile page, there is an Album option, and I presume that if I uploaded some pictures in that album, I would be able to copy them from there to a reply. But maybe I would only be able to amuse visitors to my profile page with them, I don't know.

I think that most people who posts pictures of their horses and other pets in their replies, first have uploaded the pictures to an image hosting website, like Photobucket, Flickr or similar (these two pages lists a few free image hosting websites http://www.techmaish.com/10-popular-free-image-and-video-hosting-services/ and http://www.isoftwarereviews.com/top-19-free-image-hosting-sites/), and from there they copy and paste the photos image codes, and inserts it as a an image here on HHO.

E.g. to post a photo on HHO from my Flickr account, I choose a photo, click a Share photo-arrow, choose BBCode (e.g. the code which works if I want to post the photo on Facebook, just becomes a black little box with an x inside here on HHO), choose image size (quite important, the biggest size options that is available, make the threads difficult to view), then I copy the code and paste it as an image in my reply.

If you're uncertain about if it works or not, maybe try the Preview Post option.
