I’ve just had my favourite little pony pts
Torro aka Tiny T I adored this little chap.

We got him about 10 years ago from the Blue Cross, I wanted a companion for our little Shetland x. We looked at a few, how do you choose a pony! So I said I’d take which ever would be the hardest to home.
That was Torro. He was already old, had cushings and was nervous/ difficult to catch.
So home he came.
He didn’t make a companion really for the other pony as he was vile to him 😬 he was a great companion to my big old horse though. They shared a stable and were always side by side. Now the ponies were friends but it took years! He’d pull faces and stamp his front legs at them!
I don’t know his history but don’t think he was ever ridden (poor child if he was) there was just something about him I loved.

The past few weeks have been really odd. I thought early laminitis at first but knew it wasn’t.
Then I started noticing things like weird ways of standing. He’d stand with his back up or hind legs crossed. Weird foot placement walking, couldn’t back up easily.
He became nervous of me and the other horses- except Bubbles who is kind to everyone.
When I go to touch him he’d lean back and just lots of weird little not quite right things.
So the vet came today and thinks it was neurological. She said there was nothing that could be done really, w could have started xraying and maybe steroids but he’s well in his 30’s and laminitic so steroids probably wouldn’t have worked. He also suffered allergies. We decided it was kinder to call it a day.
I’m quite shocked how sad I am to have said goodbye to this precious little face.

So very sorry for your sad loss. He looks very well in the photos and you have done the right thing. We had to do the same last year for our old companion pony who had been with us for 32 years.

I don’t know quite what’s wrong with me!
I’ve seen so many come and go, both here at home and work. I think usually when I loose one at home
It’s a bit more expected. I’ve been dealing with an illness or lameness or something and I almost feel relief.
This, although he’d been weird and not right for a few weeks and I had a bad feeling about today, this was totally not what I’d expected.
The sad thing was I couldn’t even give him a big hug or kiss his little face goodbye because he just kept backing away from me like I was going to hit him.
Until recently he’d accept a kiss by his ear every morning.
He wasn’t just my favourite out of the ponies but even ridden horses. He’s had number 1 spot for years.
I’d already made his dinner for this evening :(
