I have had my mare now for 18 months, so I know her pretty well. However just lately she has started to shake / shiver on the odd occasion when she has been brought into the stable. She did it today and she was definitely not cold as it was warm and sunny.

She definitely does not like being in the stable and at the moment she is still out 24/7. When I start to bring her in at night she will be a pain in the @rse untill settled into a routine. She is a bit of a stress head and seems to be in season as well at the moment.

She hasn't had a bad experience in her stable and she is not sick. She is very well, plump and shiny at the moment. I have no idea what triggers this shivering off but once I took her out and started to work her she was fine. I know that some horses show thease signs if they get excited. But she had nothing to get excited about as such. She also poops and pees for England every time she comes in, which is very annoying!

Does anybody else have a similar problem with their horse?

we had a gelding on the yard who reacted exactly the same way if he had to come into a stable. It can be a stress reaction to being separated from their herd environment. The gelding at our yard managed to fill 2 wheelbarrows full of muck from being stood in a box for just over 2 hrs. He literally quivers and works himself up into a real sweat.Again once taken out of the stable and worked he settles and is totally relaxed and happy out in the field. Some horses just don't cope well with being in a confined space away from their friends.
