On the dog walk today we passed another dog which was also out for it’s walk, and George didn’t bark ? I genuinely never thought the day would come when that happened ???

I would like to say it is my fantastic training, and that I focussed his attention on me so he ignored the other dog instead of trying to viciously attack it.......

What actually happened was that as soon as I saw the dog approaching, I picked George up and tucked him under my arm facing backwards so he couldn’t see the dog ???

I got covered in mud in the process, but oh it was worth it.....the silence was truly golden.... so this new technique is being adopted and no more having to apologise to passers by for my hysterical screaming terrier trying to turn himself inside out ????

There was also actual real sunshine, which was lovely ?

:D Thanks, Lev. That brought a smile to my face on a pretty crap day.

I hope George quickly recovered his dignity.

Yup, it gets boring apologising to other dog walkers for your rattish terrier going nuts. If it works, continue?

I wish I could do that with 10 ton collie (he’s not really fat). He’s fine when we go to off lead places, but acts like he wants to kill all people and dogs we see on the odd days we do a lead walk.

He did that whole surreptitious looking around to see if anyone had noticed when I put him down again.... then he carried on walking with his usual swagger and attitude ??

I must admit Millie let the side down by growling at the dog as it passed, but that is manageable compared to George flinging hinself to the end of his lead screaming his head off at top volume! Millie is fine off the lead too, but feels threatened if she is on a lead

Oh the shame !! I liken this to the daleks quest for world domination - they were scuppered by a staircase, George has been scuppered by the reverse scoop!!

I absolutely love this comparison, it genuinely made me laugh out loud ? I suppose I need to reserve my excitement until I see whether it works next time..... knowing George, I suspect he may find a way around it!!

Can you not get one of those harnesses with a handle and just pick him up like a little handbag?

oh I do that with his harness anyway even though it doesn’t have a handle - he is amazingly relaxed about it and just stays still with his little legs dangling ? But then he can turn his head, which he can’t when he is squashed firmly under my arm...
