When I got home from work my Dad gave me a bag with some old horse stuff in it.
They were from a lady who he'd been doing some work for, and he'd obviously been telling her about my eventing and horses. So she went and got him this bag of horse stuff which she had used as a young teenager ( she's now 70+). And asked him to give it to me as I may like to use the stuff and she has know use for it anymore.
So my Dad accepted it, well inside was a pair of Lister hand clippers that are donkey yrs old, bless her she thought i might want to use them, they look like they should be in a museum. And yes i've sent pictures of them to lister since there currently looking for the oldest pair of clippers around.
It also had a plaiting set, old bandages, a lunge line, and some haynets! Bit to old to use now.

She's now coming to see my horses this week as she was really interested to meet them.
I just thought what a lovely gesture. Made me smile!

What a lovely thing for her to have done - she has probably got a smile on her face remembering all her horsey times and how nice for her to come and visit your horses - bet she gives them a good cuddle and comments on their smell! The smell of a warm horse seems to be something people remember and miss. I'd leave her stuff on view so she thinks its gone to a good home and has some use - she'll be well chuffed.

When we had our loan horse, we were struggling to get her western saddle to fit her, and weren't really in a position to buy a new one for a horse that would eventually go back. One of the top competitors, who we knew from having lessons with her husband, very kindly gave us one of her 'old' (hardly worn!) thick wool saddle pads to try to see if it would help, and it made a huge difference. She then insisted that we keep it and refused any payment apart from a couple of nice pics of her horse my husband had taken.
There are some very kind people out there, at all levels of competition, and if you are in need they will usually find you...
