Just thinking on another thread - I expect most of us have benefitted from a random act of horsey kindness at some point, when someone went out of their way to help us out. So I thought a thank you thread might be nice, especially if we didn't get the chance to say thank you properly at the time:)

I'll start:
At my first riding school I used to get a free lesson every other week for helping out - bless the owner, things were rough for me at home at the time and I think she wanted to help me out. She's really the reason I am where I am today, I think if I'd been stuck at one lesson a fortnight, which is all we could afford, I'd have given up as it was so hard to make any headway with such a big gap between lessons.

So, thank you Carol!

I had a crunching fall out hacking a couple of years ago, when my horse bucked & then took off down the road :o

A passing couple stopped in their car and caught my horse. He then drove me back to the yard & she rode my horse home (a good 2-3 miles away). I was a little bit out of it :o

I was concussed & had broken my collar bone. As soon as I could drive again, I found out which yard they were on & dropped flowers, chocs & a card off, but never saw them again to say a proper thanks.

Their kindness that day will stay with me :)

Oooo I like this idea :D

I'd like to thank my amazing boyfriend who helped me make my dream of owning a horse come true.

We were supposed to be revising for University exams, but I was looking at horses for sale instead hehe. I've always ridden and had a horse on loan before Uni, but never had the opportunity to buy one. So I said to him, "can we buy a horse?" and his answer was "why not!"

He had ridden once before in Australia but never been taught. We looked at a few and then found Jasmine. She was a skinny, headshy, skittish little ex racer who was completly the opposite of what we were looking for. However the first time I ride her I just though, this is the one! My boyfriend handled her and also liekd her. So we bought her :D

My boyfriend can now walk, trot, canter, gallop on a hack and had just leant to jump. He can also muck out, bandage, tack up, etc.

Jas is now fit and healthy, loves being cuddled and has been an absoulte star teaching my boyfriend to ride.

So, thank you boyfriend and Jasmine.

Id like to thank my old riding intructor/YO for letting me loan the most stubborn, pig headed, pain in the a**, beautifull, loving cob ever! He taught me so much and my riding wouldnt be as it is today without those few years learning from him. So thanks Carol you may be a bit nuts but your judgement never fails

I would like to thank my current riding instructor. Before we met i was having problems with my horse and even though i have good dressage instructors we couldn’t get him to work in a shape or activate his hind leg. I decided that maybe it was time i started jumping to see if the bore of schooling was the problem. I contacted a lady that was recommended to me but she told me she had stopped teaching but would come and give me a couple of lessons. Anyway 2 years on and everything is amazing, she is still teaching me and although the jumping didn’t work out (I kept falling off because of his power and i was to nervous) his flat work has come on so much that people comment on him all the time.

She really taught me so much but to this day i couldn’t tell you what she did or said that made it all fall into place.

I think it was because she is from a jumping background and so is my horse so there brains work the same way.

So a very big thank you for giving me the horse i have today and giving me the tools to be able to improve him.
