So, Haven't updated about my boys for a while! They are fabby, and still super cute
And they're starting to grow up!! Acer is growing so fast compared to Calypso... I don;t think hes going to be a mini, hes already above 34"! And hes bum high again.
After worrying for ages I finally bit the bullet and took them on the road! They'd been standing by the road watching the cars go past without being silly, so last weekend out we went! I gave my dad Acer as he can be quite strong but thats it, Calypso can sometimes be a bit silly to lead. We didn't go far (about 100m actually...
) but they did it!! Calypso was an absolute star and once he stopped being jumpy as the cars passed us he was fine. Acer was a little bolshy for my dad but he wasn't really bothered by the cars, his main problem is he doesn't like walking on different terrain!?
Each time a car passed we stood them on the grass verge, but Acer was so reluctant to go onto the verge from the road...! Took a lot of patience from my dad but eventually he did it, and the main thing was he wasn't worried about the cars!
We turned round after a short way as I just wanted to do a little bit, and as we started to walk back I looked behind and there was a great big gritter truck coming towards us chucking grit out!!
so we trotted onto a driveway and thank god we did as it didn't slow down!! But once again they weren't phased
I was so pleased with them both!
Acer just needs to stop being so pully and bolshy, which I'm hoping he will learn in time, if not... Its bye bye ballys!!
every night after work I've been takign them for a short walk round the car park next door, just to get them used to being away from each other and walking Acer up and down banks, on grass/gravel etc and they've been great. I thought I'd have a go and took Calypso on the road quickly on Friday.... He was absolutely foot perfect until he heard Acer in the distance whinny! He then got very fidgety and when I wouldn't let him go back, he stood up and attempted to box at me!!
very naughty!! So I made him wait even longer, and he did quietly! I think that was just a 'I don't want to do this' moment, hoping he'll grow out of that sharpish or again... Bye bye ballys!
All in all, I'm very pleased with them
I only have one worry about them... They look slightly fat at a glance, but its hard to tell because of all of the hair! But when I feel them, I can feel their ribs quite easily...
Should i be feeding them up a bit more? They are out for about 10hours but theres not much grass, they have a big haynet over night and a small feed of hi-fi/pony nuts and a vit/min supp at night. I don't want them to be starving, but equally so I don't want them to go into spring too fat... What would you do?
Anyway... Important part!! Piccies!!
Calypso:
Acer with their new toy... I bought them a spacehopper to play with, and so far all they've done is lick it, run away from it, or hug it!!
This morning when it started to snow
Calypso and their ball...
And this was last week when it was loveeely and sunny!!
