Have noticed Oscar has been a bit sore looking behind, but not lame as such. So I had the vet look at him today and as I suspected it looks like he has spavin. He said he would eat his hat if it was anything else!! Was not a huge shock to be honest and he said he was only confurming what he knew I had guessed.
So he is out again next week to block and x-ray him, both hocks. So depending on what we find we go from there. We have picked this up early so that is a good thing, and my vet is brilliant and if anyone can get him sound again he will.
Im not feeling deflated about this anyway, really confident that we will get him comfortable again.
Just another blip in Oscars road to RC domination!

I sent you a post about 20 mins ago re spavins.Pleased you are feeling positive .If you decide on surgery let me know if you want any info my horse had his done in january and my friend had hers done this week .
 
Ahhhh Toots - my boy is going through exactly the same thing!

My vets want to take him to their hospital to diagnose though and not sure I'm 100% happy about this.......

Be nice to keep each other updated as it's always good to chat to people who are going through the same thing.
 
Hi, Soz I never answered last night, had been a long day and I fell asleep!!
My vet usualy insist the horses go to them for the blocks and x-ray's, but he has said he is more than happy to do it at our yard as it is so clean and my boy will not travel in a trailer on his own.
You probably are best to go to the surgery for the treatment, you will get your results straight away and treatment will start instantly.
How much has your vet told you about possible treatment? We have talked about all options and decided what we will use dependent on how advanced it is and where it is.
Yes do please let me know how you are getting on, or if you are needing to have a moan then that is cool too.

Positive thinking is the only way since stressing wont help anyone and Oscar will pick up your stress and sadness.I used to be the Queen of stress and worry.hope all goes well with the vet ....
