Elf On A Shelf
...
On Thursday we decided to go to Kirriemuir Show on the saturday just for the craic which you could enter on the day. So off the Wee Coloured Job went. And what a pita he was being when we got there! It's a good job we were early as we pretty much did 4 laps of the show field in full trot before he would shut up!
Just as judging commenced it started to rain
And it got heavier and heavier. Lance's has the last class of the section and I was hoping he would be well placed to keep up his good strike rate. Would he stand in the line up? Pft! Stand for the judge? Barely! He did walk and trot beautifully though. As we all went for a final walk round a pony in the ring pee'd right next to him so that set him off. But he maintand his behaviour enough to be called in 1st! I was a little surprised as it was a quality class with some other nice black stallions in. As we lined up the 2nd placed stallion went to attack him and bless we Lance he made angry noises back but actually shot back and hid behind me. He's such a wee baby at times but then he is only 4yo 😅
Onto the Championship where he was on his bested behaviour but again didn't expect much as there were really nice black mares/fillies forward so to be called in as In-Hand Shetland Champion was a total shock! We then faced off with the ridden champion for the Overall Shetland Championship which he also won 😀😀😀 which means he has now qualified for Blair! I realised on he way home that the last time we went to Kirriemuir Show we were overall Shetland champion too ... 14 years ago with a yearling! Maybe we shouldn't leave it 14 years beffort going again 😅😅😅
You can see the rain in the picture! Which isn't working properry because I can't copy and paste on this phone apparently!
So we headed home very happy and with a minor patch up job before his show today. Normally I don't do 2 shows in a weekend let alone with the same pony but the Sunday show was always the plan and was entered long before we decided to go on Saturday.
We took Rains too for my sister and Nephew to show.
First up was the turnout class. Now I don't think I have ever done a turnout class for showing! We stood 3rd so not so bad considering he had.made his wee pasterns manky! Then onto the Adult handler where he had to stand next to a mare and foal in the line up. He was mostly fine with this he just took it out on my show cane. RIP cane! We've had some great days toget her! Slightly bemused to finish 5th but hey ho! My sister beat me and stood 4th but in all honesty she should have won! She's still happy she beat me though lol!
Back outside for the Shetland stallion class which Lance duly won by being the only one in it. Onto the championship - I knew exactly what was going to happen and happen it did so no placing for the Wee Coloured Job but that's showing for you! 😂😂😂😂
That's him finished again now until the breed show in August and I might just have to take him to Blair seeing as we have qualified and I know the judge doesn't mind Shetlands that aren't black!
What makes the Wee Coloured Jobs results so special is because there is a huge amount of colour bias/racism in Shetland showingredients, especially in Scotland. If it isn't black then it has to be chestrut. If it isn't either of those then it has to be another solid colour. Multi-coloured standards are generally a no go and it takes a very brave judge to put one up the line.
Lance has been selectively shown and apart from today he has never been out of the first 3 picking up classes and championships along the way.
Roll on August! And once that is done he can crack down on learning his ridden job properly!
Eta - OK, didn't know photobucket has done something stupid these days! What other image hosting website do people use?!?
