Some of you might remember my post a while back about our 800 mile round trip to see a lame pony? Well, we can now top that!

We have over the last few months been all over the UK to see ponies that won't go near fillers, are 13.2 1/2hh and not 14.2hh, after we've tried the vendor has decided to keep, a pony who was substantially older than described and covered in mud fever (in second thoughts - have travelled to two with bleeding mud fever). It is so frustrating!

I have tried word of mouth, local PC's etc and as an experienced parent offering a 5* home I ask all of the right and thorough questions, get video clips and photos before travelling. We are looking for a scopey 14.2hh, any age or experience that has scope to affiliate and jump 1.10's, so trying not to be too prescriptive.

Are others having so much trouble looking for horses or ponies?

If mine was for sale then that would be her. I'm afraid to say she isn't though, well, ask me again next time she's hightailing it over the hedge to the geldings next time!!!

It is horrendously frustrating viewing ponies. Some are so badly described you wonder just what relation it has to the original advert

Where do you want me to start????
Excellent with children a mothers dream-bit my daughter and then proceeded to kick out at young girl grooming. Would not stand to be mounted and tried to roll in school.

11.2-turned out to be closer to the 13hh mark, sellers response? 'plenty of growing room' UM no plenty big enough for dd to loose confidence!

Been there done it-was 25+ if he was a day and should not be standing let alone be ridden!!!!

I have now decided to quit while I still have the will to live!! I am loaning out daughter instead!!

Similar tale went to see 12 hand pony descibed as "loves children " couldnt eat a whole one the little bugger bit anything that went near him ears back teethbaring job -as you can imagine gave the owner a mouthful having driven a fair distance to view .

Sellers point of view (me) ... advertised pony as 14.1hh 6 years green but loads of scope ready to start competing two viewers both said they loved the pony and she was really genuine, rode in own tack jumped about 1.05 in the dark

they stayed sooooo long umming and aaarhing finally decided pony wasn't quite big enough (child only had one year left) !! Tried measuring stick twice, think they were hoping she'd grow another inch if they waited an extra 1/2 hour !!

Other one loved pony to bits then rang to say she couldn't get the money off other half as they hadn't sold existing pony !!

Really disheartened so decided to keep then broke my leg (on another horse!) and poor pony has done virtually nothing now for 3 months just hacking out 3 times a week, just about to start getting her out again now i can drive, what a waste, but could I find a decent person to take her on ??

............. although i once travelled 4 hours to see a show hack in faultless condition with no lumps and bumps and ready to show but when I arrived the first thing i saw was a very large scar on her back leg and the poor thing looked like she had just come out of racing !! Ready for the ring it was not !!

this after numerous calls to the vendor and many pictures of her recieved (think it was a different horse) .... what is wrong with people !!!
