I love the yard we are at, i got my own stables etc, get on well with YO, he does things for us. The facilities are good and the hacking is brill.

The only down side is his daughter, shes 17 and goes to horse college. She has been good to us but i get so annoyed that she tells me how to care for my horses and its normally wrong advice.

She lends my stuff and never leaves it back in the same place, she took my new rug as her horse ripped hers. She left it back miggin, saying that my horse was going to dirty it anyway. My lunge rein and whip is left out in the arena, and she goes into my stable block with her horse to lend my things, including my saddle when she has one of her own. My horse doesnt like hers as hers attacked mine, so Mae will put her head over the door and put her ears back, so she scolds Mae, says that she will help discipline my lot.

When i took Mae to the show, she scoffed that Mae wasnt a jumper and that i was making a fool of myself. Its really knocked my confidence in taking her to a show! She tells me to put Murphy and Angel to sleep as they cant be rode that often. She told me to put Mae back in foal again this year but i said no, that i was doing it next year, so she says that she wont hold as she had the years break.

If i ride mae infront of her she says im too soft with her, i should be bringing her head in by sawing her mouth, but once mae settles she brings her head in nicely for me. She reared with this girl when she rode her so now i dont let her, yet she still asks.

Im getting really pissed off, yous guys helped me get a new diet for Mo (hes loving it btw) and she said that its totally wrong and i should stick to the diet she suggested. Yous said conditioning cubes, speedibeet and alpha a. She said 1 scoop of cool mix a day and a half scoop of apple chaff. Then leave a bale of haylage infront of his stable but he gets fizzed up on this.

OH lunges Mo before he rides and she scoffs saying that a good rider doesnt need to lunge before riding.

I tried to tell her that she is using her draw reins too harshly (didnt say it in those words), her horses head is so far in that her chin is touching her chest. She didnt listen until her horse reared with frustration.

I guess you get someone like this at any yard, when shes at college about 100 miles away, you cant get rid of me at the yard lol.

Tell the silly child to get stuffed

She is a product of why I think equine colleges are a load of crap - no disrespect meant, but it spawns countless *know it alls* as well as some that actually do know what they are doing.

As for your situation, I am afraid I would have to leave. There is NO way I would stand for people using my things without my OK - it just isn't on. Can you buy a locker that you can lock your things up in?

Lock your stuff away and dont listen to what she says,,,, she will soon get bored. Try to ignore what she does with her horses though as its no more your business to judge her than it is for her to judge you........ even when she does sound like an arse!!!

You completely misunderstand the dual role of equine colleges Weezy.
For the intelligent students, they further their knowledge, hopefully whilst gaining experience in the industry too.
For the intellectually challenged numpties, colleges act as a holding facility, keeping them safely out of the equine industry where they could wreak havoc and cost money. Look at the problems this one generates in the brief periods she is allowed out unsupervised by wardens (sorry, I mean lecturers) - do you not think she would be better in college 7days a week, 52 weeks a year?

If I was you I would get an instructor down when she was there, to give you a lesson. Every poo idea she comes out with after that, I would just say "Oh, my instructor says to do it like this." Not ideal I know, but your yard sounds great, and I know how hard it is to find somewhere like that. And get a locker because, "you've heard there are tack thieves operating in the area"! Good luck.

YOs gf went to horse college and she helps me loads, shes given me lessons and its improved my riding loads.

I actually felt like shite when she said i was keeping the two alive for nothing. Murphy is 27 and he is rode twice a week, which is more than her horse. He is more forward going than Mae whose 4. He loves his routine and hes too fit for to pts, Angel is 9 and after an accident she developed arthritis, she can be rode but cant be stabled without being given bute as she gets stiff. She gets rode twice a week aswell.

No i shouldnt have mentioned the draw reins, but i felt for the horse as she looked so uncomfortable. All i said was "How do you introduce draw reins" as the horse hadnt been rode in them that long.

Today i bought large containers and padlocks!!!

i could not stand that at all, you can either talk to her, though i am not sure this would do anything, or move, i would probably move, there are lots of nice yards out there, you just have to find them, its a shame its come to this

The thing is ChristmasC, this woman sounds like a complete brainless, loud-mouthed twonk. Do you CARE what loud mouthed twonks think? Or what their opinions are? No. So just lock all your stuff up - the thing about tack thefts in the area is great - and then just ignore the ignorant little smurf. She is NOTHING in your life. Less than nothing. It sounds to me like you and your horses are enjoying life so carry on believing in yourself and {{blows enormous rude raspberry}} to The Twonk!

No i dont care about her opinion, if she says something i say well my HH friends say i should try this lol. She heard i was clipping Mae, said i should give her a full clip, i cracked and said it was my horse and my decision.

I really dont want to move, i love the yard and the YO is brillant, even if he is a flirt lol. The yard is so perfect for my lot. There is a lock on my tack room but as their tack room is smaller, they have to have their feed bin in my tack room, so they can access my tack room. So i bought the container and locks to put all my small stuff in, only thing i cant put in is my saddle.

YO or his gf would collect me to bring me to the yard, if im up there late they make me my dinner!! The gf would ride my lot if my back is too sore and if one of my lot is sick, they tell me to stay over so im not worrying about the horse! His GF helped me deliver Jacada, i strongly believe if they werent there then both mare and foal could have died!!

Never laughed so much - absolutely brilliant reply.

Oh for lords sake, can't you staple the girls mouth shut?

Sounds like your horses are perfectly happy, and your old guy sounds like he's living it up!
Tell Miss Busybody to bog off, impolitely ofcourse, and ignore everything she says and does.

Ignore her - as long as your horses are happy and healthy that's what matters. I was at college with a load of people like her and they almost drove me round the bend! Make sure you lock your things away so she can't get at them then when she makes silly comments just smile at her while hoping she goes to work at a yard with a real strict boss who tells her whats what!

Theres always one....I find ignoring them completely, to the point where you imagine she is invisible and you cant hear her, really does the trick after a while.

Never ever ever let her meet my OH. Cairo is getting on, he is stiff and is in light work - he costs £3,000 every three years in vet's bills and has one eye.

My OH would rip her to shreds verbally - not resorting to abuse if anyone were to suggest that Cairo should be pts - to us he is worth his weight in gold and very happy with is life.

Lock up your stuff and think la de da de da when she is speaking, or even sing it out loud if you really want to get the message over that her comments are not welcome.

God save us from the educated horse people. Good old common sense and knowing your horse is the best way forward.

My thoughts exactly - Living near Bicton College - we see endless supplies of little girlies who put their horses and ponies through endless torture because the college told them thats what horses can do!! It drives me mad!!
