One of the people at a yard down the road advised me that there have been a spate of thefts in Epping/Harlow/Ware areas recently.

Might be worth taking your tack that can't be easily replaced home for the moment.

Very tempted to wire the tack room door to the mains - I hate thieving more than anything - low life scum.

Yep, heard the same for Stapleford Abbott area - a trailer was taken from our yard last week and apparently lots of stuff is being nicked at the moment (no horses though) - seems very professional - apparently targeting even yards you'd have to reach by footpaths. They have even taken of electric gates and roof to tackrooms to get in so seems pretty organised.

And we had a little Transit lorry taken last week. The crappiest one on the yard mind!

This is so frightening isn't it, the lengths that they will go to.

Our YO says that their dilemma is that if our yard was being burgled do they try to apprehend the thieves, block their exit or stay safe inside the house and call the police. As if they confront them who knows what might happen.

All our stuff is as marked as it can be, but you just never know do you.
