so,imagine, if you came into lots of money unexpectedly, and were to buy the yard you are on now, would you keep any of the present liveries on or would they be turfed off as fast as possible....?

Oh - how many times have I dreamt of this.

It only counts for my previous yard - as I am not on a livery yard now. I stable on my friends farm now.

Essentially there were two people I would have got rid of - and absolutely to cut my nose off to spite my face - because I couldn't stand them.

Apart from that everyone else could have stayed because essentially everyone was a good egg....

I'd keep everyone....but my livery yard is very mellow, despite being quite large and busy. It seems to me that everyone does try hard to get along....

lol, amymay, thought it was just me dreaming

as for me, although i like the people, theyre so darn scruffy and lazy theyd have their marching orders pdq

I'd keep most of them, our yard is pretty good - everyones eally friendly and easy-going. I'd spend a fortune adding/improving facilities though, which would mean I'd have to charge them more

in this dream money is no object....

so id have more land (buy next doors)
menages
x country fences
possibly a horse walker
oh and a wash box with heat lamps

am i missing anything, lol

I love my YO so much if I came into some cash I'd buy somewhere nice and take them with me! lol

If I were to buy the yard I'm on though, I'd keep the liveries, they're mostly ok and although some are a bit weird and have strange ideas (ppl may think I do 2) they dont cause any grief really compared to some liveries I know!

lol, parisienne-girl, im just in a bad mood at how lazy they are and how i cant get any help rag weeding etc, so im just plotting to myself how id kick them all off if i was YO, is a bit odd, yes

I would kick all the hassle out, all the kids out and keep it strictly a competition yard but so that I can get in to the school when I wanted without someone having a lesson or jumping etc when you want to just school

I don't think its that odd - I quite often think about it!
I'd keep my friend but the kids ponies would definately go, escpecially the ones who keep breaking the fencing!

do you think im being fussy for wanting to kick out people who make a mess and dont ever tidy up, muck pick ot ragwort pick? even if they are nice and probably pay on time?

I would keep all but 1 or 2. There are about 30 so I think thats quite good

Most of them are really nice and willing to help you out when you need it aswell.

Only thing I would change it that YOUNG kids should be supervised by an adult. It annoys me when they are running around, leaving ponies tied up all day, charge ponies around for hours until they are dripping with sweat then just chuck them back in the stable (you know what I mean) and their parents just drop them off at 9am and pick them up at 5pm every single day of the holidays! They are all nice kids though

If I had lots of money I would move to a different yard with a larger arena and more jumps and better facilities in general.

However if I was to buy the yard I would kick off the person who runs it now, they have too many horses that don't get enough attention and their dogs run havoc. I would also get rid of someone who only comes down about twice a week to see their horse and relies on everybody else.

On a small yard and would keep them all, luckily everyone is easy going and relaxed.
If I was on my previous yard, would definitely evict a few prima donnas!

I would keep those that I am with.... ban children and build kennels & runs for those who had dogs to use while they were at the yard.
and add what ever I think is required

What a lovely thought!! I'd keep most of them, but get rid of the kids. What is it with kids now? Lazy little b*****s won't even think to pick up poo from the yard when it's their own pony that's done it. Also 'borrow' weverything and don't put it back. I never mind lending, but I've lost count of the hoofpicks, scissors, 'Mane and Tail' etc. that I've replaced. AND they never want to muck out, or do anything except ride. (All right, that's my rant for today.)

Not at all,i feel exactly the same,it drives me scatty as we have just 1 that is sooooo bone idle it is scary, thankfully the po is in a sectioned off paddock on its own so at least our paddocks are nice and clean!!!!x

OMG! I am so glad this post is on here. Not wishing to rant but it is the same ta my yar. YO is lovely lovely lady but doesn't enforce the rules. Kids running riot and riding their poor ponies for 5 hours a day then just abandoning them tied up in the yard. Poo everywhere because no-one clears it up, an unharrowed school with jump cups left everywehere and Fields get left with no muck picking and have big weeds!! (sorry - rant over). In answer to the Q then yes I'd kick off 80% of the liveries and tidy the place up!!

Going to look at new yard tonight - feel a bit mean as YO is so nice and has been good to me & my horses but can't take it any more!

id love to be yard manager on my yard, at least i could sort some of the things out. failing that i wouldnt mind paying for all the things i do.
in the yard contract it says that we will muck pick, and people not doing it will be charged for someone else to do it, but nothing happens, if i got paid for doing everyone elses poo picking i wouldnt mind so much even!

I'd probably not turf anyone out at the moment - we finally have a really nice bunch of people on our yard. Now if you had asked me last year, there would have been several, but luckily the "coven" moved on mass!!! hehe
