A friend of mine has gone to Australia for 3 months so i am keeping an eye on her hardy little dartmoor x. I rotate his rugs daily as he lives out, so he is in for 2 hours during the day to dry/thaw out, then has a dry rug on and then back out with 2 other ponies.
Imagine my horror when i went out in the snow friday morning to find him miserably standing at the gate covered in ice with no rug on. i searched all round in case he'd managed to wiggle out of it, but with no luck
Thinking that his rug had been stolen, i asked everyone on the yard if they'd seen anything. Nobody had.
I had the shock of my life this morning cos there was a old(ish) man parked by the gate, waving at me. i stopped the car and got out to see what he wanted.
He handed me a cleaned, dried and mended rug that he'd removed from Bramble thursday evening. The front straps had ripped and the rug had twisted and was round Brambles hind legs!
I couldn't thank this lovely man enough! he'd taken a risk to remove the rug in the first place, let alone going to the trouble of having it (proffessionally)cleaned and mended over the weekend!
I asked him how much i owed him for the mendand clean and he refused to take any money, saying that he didn't do it for the money.
I didn't think people like that still exist in the world, but they really do!!
