I have been generating trade stands for our Open Day/Max demo on August 9th and am totally blown away - people I have never met have said sadly they can't make it but what's my address they will send me a book/framed photograph/stable fittings, and yesterday when I called in to collect the rug racks, saddle racks etc. the generous small business owner filled up my car with no less than ten items - one of each of most things he makes.
And Heather Moffett has donated a couple of items, without even being asked, so we now have nearly 30 fantastic prizes, including goods and services - a local trailer dealer has donated a trailer service, and that would normally cost well over £50.
I was dreading having to "beg", I hate it, but I haven't had to. The only problem now is deciding which is second third fourth etc., they are all so brilliant (we haven't finalised the first headline prize yet).
What a wonderful community horsey people are, for the most part.
