Does anyone find that there is ALWAYS something to worry about with horses.

Maybe I'm being a winter grump but I go through phases where I just wonder if it's worth all the effort, worry and money.

The things I'm worrying about today are 1. Farrier issues, long story but I'm basically never happy with how my horse is being shod and I have to try and tell my farrier later and he has an attitude at the best of times.

2. Our school badly needs harrowing yet despite an increase in our livery bill for the school it's not being done. Day before yesterday my poor horse actually tripped, lost his footing and fell down with me on him. Luckily we both seem unhurt but it means I can't school properly or jump until it's been harrowed.

3. School fence is all rotten wood and sheared off, luckily we didn't fall into that and stake ourselves.

4. Not sure if horse has right rug on and now I'm worried he's cold.

5. Worried because I've spent all my
money on horse instead of Xmas presents. This happened because I was worried that it was end of season and wanted his back, teeth,
saddle done before Xmas.

This is just today there is always something!!! A saddle issue or something I'm trying to iron out in our flatwork, jumping, hacking. His saddlecloth is rubbing or I'm worried about mud fever, his bit (is it too cold when I put it in his mouth??). The hay is running out and he needs more but I'm not sure if to change supplier as it's a bit dusty but the other hay man can be rude on the
phone and he scares me.

All this while being freezing cold, trying to scrape mud off my horse, falling over in the mud, my horse jumping all over me because he's fresh when I'm trying to lead him. Getting soaking wet riding in the rain, having cars up our arses out hacking because everyone trying to get home. No shows because its so cold, being outside hanging around is the last thing I want to do. Risking my life driving to the yard in ice, snow, gales ect.

Aggghhhhhh!!!

Horses, who would have them!!!!

Yikes, mega stress! Get your brave pants on and sort the farrier and hay out - you will feel heaps better for it and it will take a weight off your mind. We have a crap school in the cold/wet too so I have given my mare the next month off as the school isn't good for riding in anymore, I just don't feel it's worth the risk when I can see that the surface isn't safe. Is that a consideration for you? I wold get on your YO case though, you pay for a service and a safe/rideable school is part of that.
Good luck, deep breath!

Ahhh dont worry, I feel your pain. Im exactly the same in worrying.

My mare is currently out of action I believe because she has a sore back, still waiting for physio to get back to me to come out and see her. Will then wait on what physio says. But really worried it could be something else too.

Will have to get saddler out too and get a new saddle :( current saddle doesnt fit anymore.

We suspect she also has arthritus.

But it just seems one thing after the other. Have already got 2 vet bills im currently paying of for various field injuries etc.

Also her teeth and jabs need doing this month.

I wouldnt change her for the world, but I am really panicking and hoping the physio can uncover where she is uncomfortable and get her fixed.

Hope you get everything sorted :)

Trust me we all have them and it is in human nature to worry, I think some people cope better with it than others.

At the moment I am worried about all sorts of things with my 4 horses at home. feed, shoes, tack, the field is a mud pit, what can I do to help them..

My other horse on loan double barrelled the loaner and broke her jaw, she was aiming for another horse behind her not the lady but still I feel terrible for her.

I just broke up with my OH today, I was stressed because he made me feel bad and now im stressed as I've hurt him and Im worried that he wont be ok and that Ive been selfish.

I have massive uni worries, am I on the right course, can I do this course, im worried because im behind on my work. commuting is killing me, I then worry if people dont like me,

I have food worries, I feel too fat but then I dont want to diet as my parents will worry. Money worries, worries about my past......

You know what makes me feel better though... just going out and grooming a horse and just enjoying their company. Not thinking about are they happy or not, sometimes just sitting in a nice clean stable after everything is done and relaxing by listening to them chewing on hay...

There is ALWAYS something to worry about! Having recently been told I have a 'very laid-back approach' with my horse, I have just realised that I tend to ignore all my worries. :D

My worries today are as follows: (But, to be honest, I'm not worried about any of these!)

1) Friend from yard text earlier saying we have run out of chaff (We both have no money til next payday! Which is next Friday for me...) - Don't actually know how this has happened, there was plenty of chaff there at 7am this morning! ??

2) Horse needs shoeing (again, have no money)

3) Have practically no money til next Friday (Totally over-indulged on useless things this month)

4) Have only bought 1 Christmas present so far! LOL

5) Horse that is prone to mud fever has been moved into a field with a VERY muddy gateway

6) Horse bit my sharer the other day

7) Car is falling to bits and can't afford another one - accidentally drove into a flood last night (very fast)... But the fiesta survived!! :D

Oh and gotta get a Secret Santa present for Friday (well I'm off work Friday so Thursday - thats tomorrow!! Lol)

... I think thats about it! Oh, and my chocolate buttons from lunchtime have melted :( :( :(

But looking on the bright side.. I have enough money to pay the vet for vaccs on Friday :D
