Dafter than a daft thing!
I recommend bombers happy tongue bits to loads of people for various reasons. In my experience horses seem to like them and are often much happier to really take the contact forward.
Charlie has one on his dressage bridle and is really happy in it, not quite enough brakes for everyday hacking though.
And along came the spotty sporty one, in his ID rubber bit, which he's ok in. I'm always a bit reluctant to change what's not broken, but he's a bit messy in his mouth sometimes and does chew the bit so he'd need a new one anyway.
Last ride he felt unhappy in it, and really it's a bit too chewed for me to be happy it's comfortable.
So I finally pinched Charlie's happy tongue. And he was better in it than the rubber ? just really nice and secure in it so I'm kicking myself for not giving it a go sooner now
