Theres nothing quite like galloping in an open field....

Definitely, nothing like a good blast. Took my green 4 year old out for a bit of fun yesterday and she was a star. Beautiful, beautiful, big, rolling canter. Beautifully responsive and with equally beautiful brakes.
Such fun, especially when at one point, she didn't manage to strike off into canter, and resulted in both of us looking like idiots with me laughing like a hyena on her back. Seems like only 5 minutes since she was a doe eyed, little fluff ball.

Glad you had fun with your new horse. Sounds like you have a good one there.

Think I'll pass on the gallpoing thanks.Got scared after mush (my nickname for him) took off with me 2 years ago. I suppose imy cobfidence .will eventually come back Ges got good brakes now lol

Christ it's been AGES since I last had a good gallop :( at least 6 months!!!!

Hopefully I'll have a sound horsey soon though and we'll be off!!! :):)

Am jealous of your glorious hack!!! :D:D I command u to go have another one as penance for making me jealous!!!! :D :D :D

We are really lucky as we have access to 700 acres of common land directly form yard, with plenty of galloping opportunities - you do need to trust your horse though.......!

:D I'm with you on that!! I'm very lucky that my lad is fantastic to hack and he LOVES to run, he's totally safe and doesn't need asking twice!! We have access to alot of big fields so regually have long gallops!!

I got 3 strides riding round my field last week lol - told he she could go , didn't mean quite as fast as she thought though as we were running out of field !! :-)

Good job shes got breaks !

Indeed:D

......special times for me right now....I'm hacking out on my horse when I didn't think he's be ready for this until much later in the year.....(long story- won't bore you) ....but several gallops/canters in open fields make me realise just how far we've come in the 6months I've had him.......

I think I'll pass on galloping my boy for a while, thanks! At least until he has much better brakes! As it is, all he wants to do when he sees green is go go goooooooooo! Keep telling him he doesn't have to do that any more since he's off the track, but he seems to really like to run!
