Hey All
How many people know, use, or have used this modality.
Let me know your experiences of knowledge of it, and if it's place in horse health maintenance.

Have been using it for about 18 years for diagnosing those irritating niggly unsoundnesses. Great if you have a horse with a sore back as you can use the imaging not just on your horse but also on your saddle. The saddle images show you exactly where the sadddle is making conact.

Well worth doing - the white areas in this picture show the really hot spots of inflamation

I used it a few months ago when my mare had been slightly unlevel on and off for a few months.Went for lameness assessment and she was fine on the day. Decided on thermal imaging and they didn't want to know if there were any problems before doing image. Hot spot showed up in heel on front leg, the leg she was slightly unlevel on so, it was a good starting point for vet. She had another lameness assessment, where she was less than 1/10th lame. Then nerve blocked in heel and went sound and freer moving. X rays followed on both front feet/heels and nothing conclusive on those so vet and farrier decided on eggbar shoes to lift and protect heels on front feet and (touch wood) she's been fine since.

Had a further image done about 4 weeks ago and no hot spots showing.

Would certainly use again.

I've found it be an excellent dignostic tool for locating the area of inflammation, but I'm not sure if it tells you the cause. Maybe someone else could clarify that part.
