Hi. was just wondering if anyone has either a thermatex exercise sheet, nordic exercise sheet or the quarter rug?

I want to get one for my high withered TB, and was worried the traditional exercise sheet might rub him on his withers

, so...... i was then thinking that the quater sheet might be better, but i'm getting a new wow saddle which has long girth straps and i don't know how i would attach the quater sheet.

any help, advise or opinions and experences with these products would be really helpfull.

has anyone tried sandwiching an exercise between the saddle and numnah to hold the sheet up off the withers? or is that just a silly idea?

Hi there,

You won't have any problem attaching a quarter sheet to your wow saddle - it is fine with girth slots, its really just the front girth straps that cause problems (well not really a massive one with velcro ones!)

I prefer the wrap around style - they go around you and shouldn't rub. If its too hot for that, I question the use of an exercise rug. On the other hand I have big horses not weedy TB's

!!! On saying that when I had TB's they never needed exercise sheets as I blanket clipped them.

I have a Thermatex excersise sheet and I usually stick it on under the numnah or leave the numnah off alltogether - I have an Arab but have found the Thermatex excersise sheets come quite far forward so I roll mine back..... haven't had any probs with rubbing the whithers - they're made of really soft comfy stuff and it's easy to pull up off the withers into the gullet of the saddle just like a numnah

I have a wrap-around thermatex one and I think it's brill! We hack out in heavy rain in it and me and horsey are still dry at the end. It's lovely and warm for cold days too. I wrap it under the saddle flap on dry days and around me if it rains. Never had trouble with it rubbing - it's lovely and soft. I thought it was expensive when I bought it but I'm pleased I got it now.

I have the Thermatex exercise sheet, it is very generous, so I can't imagine that you'd have problems. I tried the wrap around one as it is more versatile and I would have preferred it, but my mare is a heavy hunter build and it wouldn't meet around her

I use mine between saddle and numnah because it did rub a bit but this way it's fine. Mine isn't at all thoroughbred shape though.

i have the wrap around thermatex ex sheet, LOVE it and would def recomend it. As you velcro over the withers (and the velcro strips are quite long) you can be quite generous when fastening it or not if you don't have to be.
I rarely hack - i use mine for the 20 mins walking i do before and after schooling while horse warms up it stops her getting cold and when cooling down it wicks away sweat and stops her getting chill so IMO PERFECT!!!!!
Think they are pretty waterproof though i'm not sure as ride in indoor school!!!

I use the Coolex wrap-around waterproof sheet (wicking fabric on the underneath & waterproof outer) which doesn't need to go under the saddle - I would never put any sheet under the saddle as messing around with the fit is not a great idea. I absolutely love my Coolex sheet, although I'm a bit biased as I got given it for free to trial!
