They won't *prevent* anything, they are just good at drying your horse's legs off quickly. I use them for warmth more than drying tho, tho after hunting I tend to dry off with a towel and then use the wraps.

Like Weezy, I use mine for warmth as much as drying - Little Black One is quite old & rather stiff with knobbly knees etc. & they are brill for either using as 'bedsocks' if it's really cold or for helping dry his legs off quickly if he has to have them hosed down & it's a bit chilly!

I have some but I don't use them in the winter overnight in the stable because I heard that keeping their legs warm results in 'softening' the tendons, which can cause sprains if they are then turned out and hoolie on cold, hard ground. This does seem to make sense to me. Any thoughts anyone?

I used them on my last horse overnight all the time in the winter to dry his legs and prevent mud fever and they were fantastic. Not sure about the warming tendons bit and am interested in this as new boy is recovering from tendon injury and havd been advised on making sure the tendons don't get hot by using breathable boots etc but would have thought that like the thermatex rugs that they wick away moisture and encourage airflow etc so wouldn't get too hot?? Not sure really, but would also been keen on other peoples views.
