I want to buy my horse a Thermatex for Christmas. He is normally 6' in rugs, and it was my understanding that Thermatex's always came up big, so I was planning to get him a 5'9". I'm borrowing a friend's 6' Thermatex at the moment, and that is a bit big on him.

However, when I went to the tack shop, I explained this and the sales assistant said that she thought I should still get a 6'. She then went off and checked with somebody else, who also said that I should get a 6' Thermatex if my horse was normally 6'.

So... Has anyone bought a Thermatex recently and know if they've changed the sizing to make them more true to size? Also do they stretch a lot?

Or failing that is the Mark Todd Coolex any good?

Thanks!

Ours def 'grow'! I would go a size smaller, nothing worse than a droopy bum - esp since our delightful ladies then manage to poo on the rug!

Defo get the smaller size!

I have just *excited squeals* received one for each of my girls - they are very spoiled!! My ginger one takes 6'6 in horse ware and is between 6'3 and 6'6 for PE other rugs. I got her a 6'3 and it is spot on. I almost wish I had gone another size down, as I do know they stretch out. But it is bank on the top of her tail as it is now :)

I made the mistake of getting my horse his usual rug size - we knew he would grow :) its a little long on his bum but i think a "smaller" size would be tight on his chest / shoulders so not too bad really - its personalised too but he only wears it as and when we go anywhere so not too bad , I went a size smaller for my mare and it looks a little "snug" to me but again she only wears it as and when we go anywhere so im not too worried :)

I've just bought one :) Haven't tried it on yet, but I was advised to go down a size - my horse is 6'0 to 6'3 but I've bought him a 5'9. They do stretch quite a lot, when my horse used to be a "perfect" 6'0, I tried my friends thermatex on him which was a 5'6 and it fit him!

My horse is a very standard 6ft and a 5'6" thermatex fits fine which is great because the pony ones are cheaper and I prefer the parachute clips on the chest.
