Those of you with Thermatex Rugs, do you actually need to go down a size or does your normal size fit?

Also looking at the Premier Equine Version and the Mark Todd Coolex Version if anyone has any recommendations?!

Kal has several Thermies . . . the one he came with is a 6 foot (he normally takes a 6'6" rug) and (being older and well-worn) definitely stretches out after wearing once washed. The other two don't stretch quite as much, but definitely do stretch (but he only wears them for competitions so they don't get that much wear).

In short - yes, I would go down a size.

Can't comment on the PE or the Coolex as don't have either of those.

Hmm, 50/50 then! He's an ISH more Irish build than TB so i'm thinking stick with his usual size.
He'll also only be wearing it for cooling/ drying off and travelling so it won't get loads of use

Unless you own a tank, then I'd go down a size.
Mine is 6'3" and goes on horses that normally take 6'6" rugs, and it also went on my 6'9" horse no problem (although he was a skinny minny)

Another vote for going down a size - 17.1 IDSH, on the Irish Draught side rather that Thoroughbred, takes a 6'6 usually, got a 6'3. Fits perfectly for me as i prefer them a tiny bit short on the bum rather than overhanging.

mine wears his normal rug size

I have both the normal and summer weight wicking rugs. I have to say I prefer the summer weight one, its a little heavier and less stretchy than a fleece and not so warm as a normal thermatex and I find it a much more versitile rug and use it a lot. It also has a taped seam down the back so less likely to stretch

The same with mine.

Both my horses have a 6'3" thermatex, but in their winter rugs (rambos) they wear a 6'6" and a 6'9".

Bought mine years ago at Olympia and on they're advice went for the size down and glad I did think her actual size would have swamped her. It's now 8 years old and still looks pristine love them to bits!

Phew that's a relief as I have just ordered a cooler a size smaller as recommended by Thermatex. Also ordered exercise rug and wraps so feeling a bit faint  :D
