ATM i have a bucas cooler rug, but tbh it is a little too heavy to use as a cooler - as much as i love it

i have just borrowed a thermatex as pony was still sweaty afterr 2 hours with the bucas on, and thinking about getting one but not too keen on the hefty price tag! are there other options, heard shires do a nice one but i cant seem to find it.
thanks

Get a Weatherbeeta Thermo-cell, they're just as good & half the price.

I may be wrong, but I think the Shires one is made from 2 layers of fleece with some insulation in between. The Thermo-cell is made from the same type of knitted acrylic mix fabric.

I have the thermatex and the wb thermo-cell, I find the thermatex much better at they are made from 2 layers of material, so much better at drying the horse, whilst keeping him warm. The wb thermo-cell is only 1 layer of fabric, so even though the thermatex is 2x as expensive as the thermo cell it is worth it as you get twice the amount of material and imo is alot better. Thermatex's are worth every penny imo, so I would save my pennies up to get the thermatex!

yes remember if you get a thermatex to always get a size smaller than you would normally get, my 5'9" fits my 16.1 warmblood, who is normally a 6'3"!

I got my thermatex for a bargain £8 about 10 years ago (second hand, one clip missing and a few small holes) Its still goung strong and has been a godsend drying off P from the rain so I could rug him. I'm hankering for a new one but they are pricey - but worth every penny.

Mine was an ebay second- new but apparently has a snag in the fabric somewhere- I've not seen it and i had a good look!
Much cheaper than shop new and worth every penny

i have just been up to change his rug after borrowing a thermatex and i think i will have to buy one! he was sopping wet an hour ago, and now is bone dry! think i will try ebay

IMO nothing else is as good as a Thermatex. I also have the WB Thermocell & I do like them but in cold weather they aren't warm enough or as effective at drying off.
