Spring really is here now, the first bunch of swallows have arrived back at the farm down here on the South Coast :D Anyone else seen them yet ? Really great to see them, another great sunny day here so spent all day spring cleaning the stables and store. Lovely to be outside and not cold

Yes! My mum called me today to say the first swallows were back in our yard - made me so happy! Spring is here!

I'd love some to come and chose my house to build their nest - such beautiful birds and amazing nests. It always amazes me how something so tiny can build such an intricate nest with gloops of mud.

No, I'm jealous they haven't got here yet and I'm in Somerset - mind you with the extremely wet, windy weather we've been having they probably just carried on straight past :p

Not when they s**t all over your horse and stables.
Don't get me wrong, I love to see them, just wish they had cleaner habits.

not here yet, I normally have a little bird build her nest and have her babies in my post box each year, she's not arrived yet either, but the grass has gone mad in the last few days. So spring must be on its way at long long last

Lol, the farmer says its good luck and a bit of mess is worth it  I am lucky they nest in the barn where most of the horses and their stuff is kept we are on the outside in a stable away so my stuff does not get covered in c..p :D

None here yet in Central Scotland. I've been looking for them every day as they arrived on 6th April in 2011 and 12th April in 2012. Can't blame them for staying south for longer but looks like they are sweeping northwards now that the Jet Stream has decided to move north too. Tomorrow maybe? :D

Yes, 4pm this afternoon, box number one and four. Wonderful, how do they navigate all that way to the same nest on a rafter in deepest Worcestershire.

Too true. While its good to see them, its not so good to have them in your stable. Bird muck in the horses water buckets, hay nets, bedding, rugs and everywhere.
Complete nightmare.

How weird - ours came back today too!! So lovely to hear them again and don't give 2 figs about the mess as mine are not in the stables at this time of year, and they just cheer the place up...
