Jack has always been on gloucosamine and msm, then he

had to on box rest and i had heard great things about

suppleaze gold, so i thought id give that ago hoping it would

be better, turns out Jack is alergic so i had to stop it.

In the mean time hes leg hasnt got any worse, but....

Its been a week since hes been on any joint supplement

and he has gone really lame again, im stunned about how

much these supplements really do work

Im now waiting for my feedmark extraflex HA as ive

seen how much this works on an elderly horse up my

yard...

I swear by Osmonds Bute X and Cider Vinegar.
Why?
My boy is normally on 2 bute sachets a day. Over summer I ran out of both bute x and vinegar. Phoenix wasn't crippled but he was certainly uncomfortable and there was a noticeable difference. He remained on the bute. Once back on bute-x and vinegar he was much happier, comfortable and able to be ridden again. And now only one 1 bute a day instead of 2 with very little noticeable difference.
So yes, I would certainly swear by glucosamine/devils claw etc and recommend it as an alternative to people who have horses with joint problems

a looong time back i used msm on an ex-bsja pony who was stiff.... cue about 6 weeks later said pony having to change from an eggbutt to a pelham (what he used to go in!) and prancing round like an eekit again! even managed a few days hunting on him! amazing difference!
but then i've used it on others and no difference

- it's amazing how different brands seem to work differently with different neds

Yes, despite all the sceptiscm, they can be very effective. I don't need to have scientific proof that some of these work for me and my horses.

I used topspec 10:10 on my horse and my part-retired pony. I don't know if making any difference to my horse as he is 18/19 and being given it as more of a preventative really as he's not been suffering any stiffness so i guess i won't know until maybe one day i take him off it.

My pony did seem quite keen going out the other day but not sure it's anything to do with the supplement. Maybe I'll know more come summer as he best ridden more.

I hope it is doing something - it costs enough!! lol
