just bought a horse box, very old one with wooden floor. So far i have only used a new one with rubber matting on the floor. I will invest in some rubber matting, but presumably with wooden floor i need to put down straw/shavings?

You will need some bedding on the wooden floor so that your horses don't slip over! Straw or shavings will do.

If you are going to rubber mat your wooden floor you MUST raise the mats regularly to checkl that the wood is not rotting away. You would not want the floor to drop out!

If you are handy, it might be worth changing the floor for a metal one... much less of a worry.

If it is too complictated to go to a metal floor Marine Py wood lasts a lot longer in conditions where it gets wet. Obviously still needs regular checking though

We have deep straw on the floor so he doesn't slip over on his poo ( learnt by him doing it first time out in it !!)
