Just a quicky.
Tried my Myler Fulmer today, got the leather thingys??? that keep the bit in the right position (attach to cheek pieces) but where should they exactly go on the cheek piece. Mine are at the bottom below the bilet near where the leather goes round the bit ring as I couldnt fasten the cheek pieces to the bit if I tried to get them any higher. It doesnt look right and the leather bits arent holding the fulmer cheeks in the right position.

Anyone

Thanks for replying.
So its sat between the metal bilet and the laether keeper??
How do you manage to fasten it. I tried that but was really struggling to get the end of the cheek piece through its keeper.

Right Im having a total total blonde moment

Do you put the leather keeper over the cheekpiece completely or try to somehow fasten it within the bilet area?

leather keeper over the end of the cheekpiece after it's hooked onto the billet before passing through the last loop.

lost of neatsfoot oil - make it really supple!!

is your bit like the one in patches picture? Cos that's not really a fulmer - more a full cheek eggbut. A true fulmer has a separate loose ring.

to be clearer (having just re read my post)

Fasten the cheekpiece as usual - but before putting the tip through the last loop, hook the leather keeper over it, then slide the end through the last loop.

I couldn't get my keepers over the billet and loops as shown in that picture - not enough stretch in the leather!

I've never used keepers on a fixed ring snaffle with cheeks which is what is in that picture, I feel keepers are only necessary on a loose ring fulmer. But I know plenty of people would disagree.....
