My youngster is a nightmare to brush, she is so ticklish and gets really grumpy at times. I have tried brushing her firmly with harder brushes and also softly with body brushes but she still doesn't like it.

Anyone else got ticklish horses and how do you deal with it?

my horse was extremely ticklish and would almost collapse to the floor when cleaning his belly. I swapped to using a rubber currycomb and it seems to have made a huge difference to him.I can now brush him all over without the extreme reactions I was previously getting.

my boy twitches when he's groomed and gets grumpy. I now only give him a quick flick over, ride, and then give him a proper groom after. he his much more relaxed after being worked and isn't as sensitive. he will still get grumpy after a while but it is a lot easier and means he actually occasionally gets a decent brush.

Yeah I've got a ticklish one

Shall try the rubber currycomb and see if that helps. Using a normal plastic one at the mo and as soon as I go near her belly she starts stamping her feet

My TB is like that. I always start on the off side at her mane which seems to relax her a bit more but I still have problems with her belly and chest. Mind you she is a snakewitch!

mine is the same, particularly hates his loins and ribs and tummy brushed. Bought a goat hair brush and he much prefers it now
