Hi All

As you are all horsey folk from around the Uk I wondered if anyone could help...

Im going on a weekend away with 2 horsey friend to Cullompton and I wondered if anyone knew of any horse attractions to see in or around this area?

Its near the M5, Exmoor national park and Dartmoor.

Is there anywhere nice to eat and see the ponies?

Im on crutches after a knee operation so nothing that involves too much trekking across unmade roads!!

Any suggestions would be great.

Thanks in advance

I live 4 miles from Cullompton.

Pub-wise;
Keepers Cottage is just outside Cully (on the road to Honiton) and is a lovely little pub (couple of miles)
Alternatively; Hare and Hounds in Honiton - 10 miles or so from Cully - amazing food

When is your weekend away if you don't mind me asking? I expect there will be some BSJA or similar to go and watch, or if you like hunting (sorry if you don't) I could find the nearest meet so you could go the that if your knee could cope with it.

Other than that obviously you have Dartmoor/Exmoor to go to to see the ponies etc. Oh and although it isn't horsey there's always the Donkey Sanctury in Sidmouth.

If it was the summer there'd be at least one BE event somewhere.

Ohh thank you all for your relpies.

Id far rather go to pubs that are recommended!!

We are leaving this Friday and return on Monday so will be in the area this weekend.

Id love to watch a hunt (missing riding!!)

Where is best to see the ponies?

Somewhere up on Exmoor there's an Exmoor Pony Centre, but sorry don't know where it is!! Maybe someone else does?

You could shop till you drop - there's Town & Country Supplies out at Broadclyst (from Cully head down to the M5 Exeter junction and then take the OLD A30 (not the new one!! - keep in the left hand lane after the motorway junction), and do some horsey shopping. Its signposted on the left just after a garage. THEN you could go up to the Jack & the Green which has had a lot of rave reveiws for food etc which is just up the road from the Town & Country turnoff. THEN you could go to Otter Nurseries just east of Ottery St Mary.

Hunts? Hmmm, don't know where hounds are this weekend. I live on the East Devon side; they've got a website - search "East Devon Hunt", but there's also the Silverton Hunt - sorry I don't know what they're doing.

Dunno whether there's summat on at Bicton Arena this weekend you could go to watch? Anyone know? If you do go, there's a fab pub at Otterton - just down the road - think called the Otterton Inn or something (its the only pub in the village anyway, I think).

Anyway, hope you find something to suit. Enjoy!
