I bought my first ever trailer yesterday! How exciting :)

Well, with it being my first experience i'd love to know what you carry with you, how you ensure safety etc.

The man we bought the trailer off mentioned that if there is lots of space infront of the horse they may try to jump over the breast bar, how do i prevent this happening? I have the Ifor HB510 so it has quite a bit of space at the front....

I know for some of them you can buy tack lockers for the front of the trailer, these would take up some space- think they are rather expensive though!! We always carry a bucket, water, and a basic first aid kit. I have my show grooming kit in there as well when its stored, so I don't forget it, and its in a box that doubles up as a mounting/step stool- always useful!
Our horses have never tried to jump over the breast bar luckily, but if in doubt I always put the bar a bit higher to discourage them, and make sure they aren't tied up too loose. I bought a quick-release stretchy tie-up thing for my trailer- its short enough so the horses can't argue if there's 2 of them, but stretches enough so they can reach their haynets- and its a pretty colour :D

Mine has water, poo scooper, water bucket and wash bucket. Also a travelling haylage net. I have tack racks in the front as well and I secure my water container with a bungee. I also have a quick release tie which I leave on the tie up ring. Just easier when loading on your own to be able to clip the head collar straight on rather than tie up. Might sound silly but if you are loading up on your own, tieing up quickly is a must!

The there is a tyre pressure gauge with pump, tow bar grease and WD40 which I leave on the trailer and put it in my jeep when trailing. Finally i use 2 heavy plastic sacks which I tie over the braking mechanism on my trailer to give it some protection when it is not in use.
