Things you've done that HHO members might not like....

Here is my list of things I do/done that other forum members probably would't like

Ridden my horse in a 3 ring gag, on the bottom ring whilst wearing spurs
Use a martingale
Use boots
Shoe my horse
Sometimes my horse wears more than 1 rug
In the winter he is sometimes stabled 24/7
Wear a stud guard
I really want a diamonte browband
I own a Pink saddlecloth

I can't admit to the really bad stuff.....

So what's yours?

I stable my horse on straw, with very little turnout in winter (supposed to be getting a couple of hours a day this year

Have no choice but to hack on roads, trot sometimes on roads

me too..then i winge at the kids when they do it......

let my horses loose out of the feild to put themselves away(then winge when others do it!)

i can probably think of many others....
 
Not just HH users, but shock horror, stop the press, ive got a 4yr old horse when everyone said i should get a old dopy 12hh plod

Ive schooled a horse with 2 whips before and spurs, she was a terrible moody nappy mare!! Only for use when needed though, and it had got to the dangerous stage where owner was terrified!

In fact when she knew they were there she was an angel so little need to use them

had my chap de-nerved , ridden on bute, spurs, whips, stables , shoes , rugs etc oh and let him get away with only hacking in company. acutally rode him , went to competitions, boots, bandages, use a trailer, had him nerve blocked lots. Am sure there's more.

I think most people are realistic on here but sometimes it does get a bit silly.
I never get my horses back checked - have never needed to.
I leave my horse out 24/7 with no rug and hes a TB and eventing fit so if he can cope then so can anyone elses.
I feed my horses just nuts and beet - no suppliments
I feed my horse hay which is unsoaked have done for 20 years and never had any allergies or problems with the wind.
I have several whips and have used them properly as they were designed.
I hate ill manners and will discipline my horse.
Anyway I am very traditional and so could go on forever.
 
Surely we should have 'pen names' for this, but well, here we go:

Rode in the arena whilst wearing a baseball cap
Used a Market Harboro'
Lunged with 'artificial aids'
Not ridden because it is raining/too cold
Forget to remove water when skipping out
Only groom saddle and bridle bits if in a rush
Used a numnah because my saddle needed a reflock
Washed my tack when it was very muddy
Got fed up with a horse after 2 weeks and decided to sell rather than persevere!

And there's worse, but I still want to visit and these indiscretions have been very, very rare!!

Why do we all feel that we need to justify the things we do?
Surely, if it doesn't effect others' safety then why should we give a monkeys what other people think of us?
I know if you post some things here you are up for critisism, but still.

Admit to all of these, also:
Ride in dutch gag in one rein sometimes, use roundings in a pelham with a flash, never wear my body protector unless it states in the rules that I MUST, dont wear a hat when riding the mare, hardly ever clean my hacking out tack, hunted in a beagler on big jumping days, lost my temper with a horse and left him in the arena for five mins whilst I went for a fag

I use a martingale on my 4yo
I have been know to ride without a hat on occasions
I never wear a hat to lunge with
I occasionally ride in trainers (if i have forgotten my jod boots)
I smack my horse if she misbehaves and whoa betide her if she ever tried to kick me

cant think of anything else at the mo but i am sure there is more

Ooo couple more I havnt added:
I trot on roads, a lot.
I dont worm.
ETS: Im not afraid to discipline my horses if they are being rude/antisocial/kick/bite generally misbehave at home, in the school, hacking,hunting,competing- wherever- and this applies regardlessof them being a 4yo or a 24yo.

We're like twins - except I don't ride sometimes just because, didn't know you were supposed to remove water bucket, always wear a nummah as I don't have to clean the underside of saddle then.
 

Used to ride my pony into his trailer - even at PC

Have cut Stonky Donkey's side up with spurs - accident but instructor told me to get after her with them and I did - she still did'nt go

Own not only a pink mucking out fork but also a pink skip!!!

Don't feed any supplements - and apart from lazy she is glowing!

School her with two very long whips (dressage instructor)

Have never used boots on her, even lunging

Buy all my breeches from Lidl and Aldi - and love them!

I back my horses around 2 years old.
I never ride with a hat on.

Can't think of anything else but that's not to say there isn't something else. Anyway I don't bother if people on here think badly of anything I do.

i think i do all of the above!

I never lunge with hat on, or use a whip (my horse is very whip shy), i regularly ride in a 3 ring gag with 1 rein (2nd ring)
etc etc
 
Oh and i have used draw reins in the past (which i got shot down for on here)
I hardly ever clean my tack
I have travelled my horse without any travelling gear
 
Given my mare a bloody good hiding for being a nappy madam (* Well used a stick anyway *shock*)

Have stood outside rings on my mare with a fag, I know yuck!!!

Talk on my mobile whilst riding.

Ride back from the field in headcollar, bareback (the field is 10/15 min walk away).

Prob loads more..

He really enjoyed being a git but looked at me as if I had taken away his candy when I got off of him, I was seething, I always get off before I get really mad, but my god he wound me up.
 
i use draw reins probably one a month, maybe more
And to be honest, i dont feel the neet to justify myself. If whatever it is i do for my horse works, then who cares??
 
ooo good one!

I never use travel boots - cause more harm than good
I used to ride without hat on W when he was 4 (inc hacking over bridge over A1) but not allowed to at current yard
Occasionaly use draw reins
Lunge with lunge line through bit then clipped to D ring to make horse flex
Smoke when riding
Freely admit I can't get on from floor (except when very angry ie. after being bucked off)
Sometimes put a fence up really high just to be smug that my horses and I can do it
Tell ppl if I think their instructor is useless

...

i'm sure I'l think of more
 
I do own a John Whittaker saddlecloth - thats very bad apparently and makes me a Chav

I once chased a horse round a field for 3 hours because I couldn't catch it, he gave up after an hour but I thought no you made me traispe up and down this hill for a hour you can keep going.

There are so many things I won't embarrass myself by listing them, but wouldn't it be a dull old world if we were all the same?!

I do things a way that works for me, and if it stops working I do something different - simple as that.
