Thinking ahead to the summer - I'm sure its coming soon lol - and saw this product on the web.

Does anyone use it? Is it worth the money? Anyone know where its sold the cheapest?

Thanks in advance!

For the price of supplementing all summer you can buy a rug and loads of fly repellant. I know several people who tried it when it first came out and the horses either didnt eat it or people felt it didnt work.

if it is the global herb one, it worked on my mare. In her previous home she suffered terribly with flies to the point of wearing a boett. When I bought her I tried her without the boett and she got some huge lumps from fly bites, not many but enough to worry me. Rather than having her rugged all summer and I experimented with ThinkFly and no more bites and in fact she lived out all summer without a problem. It smelt rather like curry....... thankfully my mare ate it but I can imagine it might put some fussy eaters off.

Like most supplements - every horse is different and somethings work with one when they dont with another . in my mares case maybe in her last home she was particularly allergic to the flies there - maybe they were different types of midgets becuase of different grazing, who knows..... anyway worth trying I think especially as rugs can be uncomfortable and still leave areas exposed and you have to be fairly diligent about spraying for fly repellant..

I would definitely try this option again first if I found a similar problem with my new horse

I tried it on my 2 last year and it didnt work at all, there were still LOADS of flies so i went back to sprays and rugs in the end!

Oooh, conflicting advice!

This one is made by Brinicombe Equine - cheapest I can find is £30 odd for a month and a half supply. I've been told that most horses wont eat the GolbalHerbs one.

I might give them a call and ask for a sample to try. If they eat it then I might try a combination of the supplement and a sheet.

Decisions, decisions

Im really glad you like our advert and that our product is stimulating some good discussion! If you would like a sample please dont hesitate to give us a ring. You can then be sure that your horse enjoys the taste before buying your first tub. In fact it is very palatable, and some horses will eat it straight out of the bowl! We also do a low sugar lick version if you don't want the hassle of giving a feed during the summer.
Now is the best time to start feeding Think Fly. You can introduce it slowly and build up the dose as the weather warms up. Do give us a ring if you would like any help!

Well, having just spent £59 buying an 8Kg tub (

), so I'm hoping it IS going to work. I'm already getting fed up plastering fly repellent on twice a day, so thought I'd try the ThinkFly feed additive when I asw it at the feed merchant's this afternoon. Luckily it didn't have a price tag on it, so I didn't know the cost BEFORE going through the checkout.

On a positive note, I added a single scoop to the feeds this evening (as a starting dose, to build up from) and no one complained or even seemed noticed it had been added! Phew.

My WBxTB filly is extremely sensitive to the midges ATM so it will be interesting to see if it works. My fingers are firmly crossed.
