following on from my post yesterday (sudden onset on seperation anxiety which has resulted in H loosing his voice) I put the crate back up last night. He has only had it up the odd time in the last year or so and tbh, I never felt he loved it. He never chose to go in it particularly, but never seemed upset when put in it....

He's hardly come out of it!! We did shut the door on him over night. Was expecting him to whinge in the morning (or try with his lack of voice) as he usually waits to be let in outside our bedroom door by the time the alarm goes off. But not one peep out of him all night!!! OH let him out and said he was very calm and happy (whereas he used to get very excited before being let out and we'd have to try and wait for him to calm).

Just come back from the yard and he's not asked to go on the sofa once! He always tries it on (OH is a soft touch!) and he's gone and curled up in the crate!

Going to give it a day or so before we leave him home alone again. Not going anywhere he can't come. Hopefully he'll be calm and happy and the SA may disappear as quickly as it came.

:) :)

Bless! Cover it up when he's locked in, super cost den! Mine love theirs, but it only comes out now if there's an injury.

Would you consider getting him a companion?

It's all covered in blankets. Does look cosy! Tonight he asked to go on the sofa, but I said no and he's back in the crate :)

I do want to get another. But realistically we live in a newish build end of terrace and he's a big dog. We want another GSP, but 2 in here would be madness. If they started to play it would be carnage.

We are moving house next year though, and another GSP puppy is in the plan ;) :)

Nice one! Hope it proves to be the long term solution to your problem......wouldn't suprise me at all if it is as I have an ancient male that insists on commandeering the puppy crate every time I make a new acquisition! :D

well it has continued!! We woke up at 7 am this morning and were gobsmaked that he was silent!! Would have thought he'd have been demanding morning cuddles by then!! Don't think he's been quiet that long in a morning since he was a puppy (before we went soft and the bad habits crept in ;) )

Still in his crate all the time! Hasn't even asked for the sofa yet tonight! His voice seems a bit louder tonight too... Haven't left him now since Thurs to give it a chance to recover. Going to be Tues or Wed now I think. Hopefully he'll have snapped out of it, but we shall see. He's not been following us round the house again like he was Thurs.

fingers crossed!!
