Oh My God, my horse can jump!!

I have never done much jumping with Axey as he is (supposed to be) a Dressage horse, however the small amount of jumping/pole work I have done with him he seems to love. I have just bought a GP saddle so had a jumping lesson on tuesday and he was fantastic!
Started off with a x pole with trotting poles in front, expected him to do a massive leap over it but he didn't he popped it lovely

Carried on like this and made it into an upright, then a spread, then put some fillers in. He didn't touch it once, and was in no danger of stopping at all. For a normally spooky horse he didn't even look at it.
He was a super star and when I had finished we measured it at just under 3 foot, and he was popping it from trot with no effort.

I'm so pleased with him

well done, jumping can be a bit more fun than dressage. My horse dont enjoy jumping think she's to heavy for it. At least you can do different competitions now instead of sticking to dressage

your horse sounds like a natural, least you can do some jumping now to add variety to both your lives! Mine is terribly spooky out hacking, but he will jump anything! yours sounds simular!

Horses are strange aren't they? I posted on here last week that I had trouble with him spooking at some jumps etc in the corner of the school, and these were the same fillers he was jumping without a problem!

Also the next day, the jumps were still up in the school and he was shying at them

Out of curiosity what did you buy him to do?

I bought him to do Dressage on mainly, but a bit of everything too. I do a lot of showing on him (he's a part bred Arab) but he is out of a showjumping mare, and the man that bred him showjumps.

I used to do lots of showjumping before I got into dressage, but I keep him on an event yard so there's always lots of jumps up in the school and a xc course. So I've been converted lol!

Lol go for it, Hes up for the job anyhow and you have been converted
