my lovely little jack R x chi' has had her first season, and i think that before i realised she was in season we went out with friends who have 2 entire large JR, which was stupid i know but had i known wouldnt have happened!!!! My problem IS she has finished her season but still has swollen boobie areas and is really gaining weight at a serious rate!!

My questions to you experts are: Could it be THAT quick that i couldnt have noticed her be covered?????????????????? If ans is yes see questions below!

shes soooo tiny and these JR are big comparitivly she couldnt possibly deliver the puppies they surely would be too big????

can a vet do a scan if yes from how early on?????

How long is the gestation period for a bitch??

i feel a bit better now because they were deffo not alone for anylonger than 2 miniutes!! thanx for the link!
 
She might have been covered tho it is unlikely in such a short time and so early in her season
Dog pregnancy is 63 days
A vet should be able to diagnose pregnancy by Abdominal palpation from Day 20 - 35 (small spherical swellings in the abdomen you may be able to feel there yourself)
or using a scan
Day 15 or by Day 22 embyonic heart beat should be heard
As your bitch is so young and has Chuihihua (sp?) in her breeding(they are known for having large heads which can increses the chances of problems in delivery and have a high incidence of ceasarians) id think very carefully before deciding to keep the pregnancy and if you do make sure you keep an eye on her and be ready to bring her in for a ceasarian if nessecary...
She might just be going through a phantom pregnancy tho...

thanks so much for your reply and if she is i dont think it would be fair on her to allow the pregnacy to continue shes my life, and couldnt bare 45ish days of living in my vets garage lol . I can feel that swelling!!!!!! Would, tho her breast area just be swollen ect due to her having her first season??
 
I think their boobies must swell up after a season as Lizzie has just finished hers and I guarded her like she was my 16 year old daughter but hers are swollen too
 
phewy, i think (if she isnt preg) they swell as shes a mature girly now, well i hope!!! fingers X for me off to vets tomorrow!!
