So I arrive last night and Gillies have just left and the lady I hired to meet him was standing on a mounting block (vet thought closer to 17 hands than 16.2)trying to rug him and he was just standing there like he'd been home all his life. Lady is oohing and aahing about how good he is.
This morning I had a rush of blood to the head and in the pitch black at 6.30, turned him out in my far fields. This means 'running the gaunlet' on a private road with 4 x babies on one side and 2 x mares with foals on the other. Needless to say they were not helpful and all galloped farted and bucked as we went down (1/2 Km). Although he was now about 20 hands and snorting, he did absolutely nothing else. And I don't think he's been out in about 3 months either. His rug slipped so I then had to get him mid caper and sort it out. He came over, let me do the rug and then went back to capering full pelt! All in the pitch black by torchlight.
Can't wait to ride him tomorrow (lights busted so w/ends only atm). Clinic in 2 weeks also!
