Ive had my 3 year old for 6 months now and he was first turned out with other colts and geldings where he was bottom of the pecking order, he's now in with 2 fillies, one mine and one not. Hes very dominant although not aggressive with them. he has tried mounting one although this was through play. He tries to be dominant with me in the field also and is very bargy and wont respect my space, however in the stable/yard hes a doll. Still a bit mouthy but i am working on that. he was gelded in july last year. Does this scream rig behaviour at you or do you think he's just trying to push the boundaries? both fillies are pretty laid back although will give him a well deserved boot if he crosses the line with them. The vet is coming to do his teeth/jabs on monday so may be worth doing a blood test on him

From what you've said it just sounds like a normal 3yo growing into himself and trying to 'flex his muscles' with the herd so to speak.
Being bolshy with u in the field is usually this, he needs stomping on lol!
He's a doll on the yard because he's away from his herd.

If you're still worried, by all means ask your vet and see if they think he should be blood tested, but from what you've said I don't think they'll think it necessary

The joys of youngsters :D

Plus, if he was only cut last year, remember in a wild herd at 3 and 4 they start to try to build their own herds, and try to work their way up the pecking order
