... as I have to ring that insurance company to tell them LC is going to the Animal Health Trust at Newmarket next week for a full lameness workup.

We can't get to the bottom of what is wrong with him.

He tied up earlier in the year, for no apparent reason. We got over that via weeks of box rest (he was no good at field rest), came back into work nicely, went lame again. We got over that, came back into work, all nice and steady, and now he's gone lame again. This time it's like a twisting action of his off hind and he seems to be moving slightly cockeyed. Tried field rest, no improvement.

So, rather than spend x amount of time faffing about, LC is off to see Sue Dyson at the AHT next week. D1 is coping, but stressing; I'm trying not to think about it, other than this having to ring the insurance company. I won't be able to go with them as I can't sit down for that long.

This is a lovely lad who has never been sick nor sorry in the three and a half years we've had him.

Not sure why I'm posting this really. Maybe to make it more real.

(For those not in the know, I had a TBxID four and a half year old mare who I took to the AHT nearly two years ago. She had chronic damage to both hind suspensories. I'll never forget the call when Sue Dyson told me. I asked, in my totally naive way, what we needed to do to fix her. She couldn't be fixed. I had her pts a couple of weeks later. I dread getting that sort of call again. Oh poo. In tears and D1 is here. Don't want her to see them.)

Massive massive hugs. He is going to a fab place to get to the bottom of it.
Maybe something stiff and alcoholic to add to your hot choc?

I'm so sorry to hear that LC is lame again. Talk about it never rains but it pours! I'm sure that you're doing the right thing for him. It is always difficult to 'relive' a scenario like yours but it could well have a completely different outcome this time around.
<<<<<<<<<vibes>>>>>>>>>>

Fingers and toes crossed for LL and you and D1 for a happy result. History is unlikely to repeat itself (life can't be that unfair). Will very definitely be thinking of you next week. Lots of good luck vibes <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> xx

Oh hun, things just don't want to right themselves do they?!

OK, deep breath and loads of positive thinking. There are many, many problems that are fixable and the AHT is the best place for fixing them. Chin up and loads of vibes for a good outcome.

Oh goodness... that is horrid. Huge hugs coming your way. The only good (!?!?) thing is that as he is going to Sue Dyson he is definatley going to be in the best possible place for diagnosis and then recovery... Good luck, think positive and let us know how it goes..

Oh Mrs M I am so sorry... it really never rains but it pours does it?! Think positively however hard that is, he is going to the best possible place, though reliving the memories for you must be terrible...

Vibes, apendages crossed and gentle hugs for all the family, and don't worry about crying infront of D1 - it will let her know its ok to be upset - she knows she has a fab mum who looks out for her and LC.

Here if you need to chat about anything

Love t xx

Thank you all :)

Can't cry in front of D1, she's looking to me to hold it all together, this is her pony, she's the one feeling the brunt. I'm her Ma, I do all the 'stuff' that's needed, including staying strong and propping her up should she need it.

MrsM I thought you were in a back brace, not a corset! Is there something you're not telling us about what what the Dr ordered? ;)

everything completely crossed, Ive had two horses with twisty hinds, one was a pelvis issue and this time hock arthritis which has been successfully treated. So it may well be something treatable/manageable, crossing legs too!

JH - hopefully the bone is doing its thing, thank you for asking :D

The bruised areas are still ouchy(!), but the break doesn't hurt. I often forget about it , then get a tiny warning wee ache where it is and that sobers me up pretty quickly. Will know more next week when go for a check up and x-ray - so hoping they won't want to operate...

You can't be that unlucky for it to happen to you again. You're doing absolutely the right thing, I'm sure they'll get to the bottom of what is wrong with LC and then you'll be able to start moving on with his treatment.

Thoughts coming your way.
