Oz seemed a little off colour this morning and refused breakfast, but wasn't too worried as he does this sometimes.

Today he seemed a bit clingy (again not abnormal as he does this before he fits sometimes), but perked up, up the yard.

Got back this afternoon and he refused a bonio (unheard of), que me checking his mouth. Gums look fine if you are just lifting his lips, but as soon as I tried to look in his mouth he yelped, so don't know, what is going on in there, but suspect he has a bad tooth (though breathe smells OK).

He will eat mashed up meat and is drinking, no obvious swelling, can bark so obviously can open his mouth, so guess I'll have to keep an eye on him tonight. Would be a bloody bank holiday weekend wouldn't it. :(

Typically my vets is shut Sundays (they are going to start doing Sunday morning surgery in Sept). Though obviously they offer an emergency service - not sure if it is them or if they use a 'pet doctors' type referral service out of hours (not had to use since they took over the practice from my old vet).

Good news is Ozzie doesn't have a bad tooth........bad news is still don't know what is wrong.

Took him to vets this morning (fortunately I had the forethought to not give him breakfast), took a GA for vet to have a look in his mouth!! Even under heavy sedation he was clamping his jaw shut!

Nothing obvious in mouth, so as he was under decided to go for x-rays...............these all showed nothing!!!

So he has been sent home having been given an anti-inflammatory (injection as he can't take tablets at the moment). He is to take it easy and only have soft food and review on Thursday.

So this will either clear with anti-inflammatorys and we will never know the cause or is going to take some rather expensive investigations.............

Thanks god for insurance eh?!! Doh oh no he isn't insured anymore is he!!! Oh well least he has his own savings account - think he may need it.;)

Oh dear, hope its just one of those unexplained things that will disappear with anti-flams. and will leave you none the wiser.

Me too!! Next step would be MRI and/or blood test to check for antibodies for some obscure (rare) disease (can't remember the name) that attacks the jaw muscles.

He's much brighter tonight (when he isn't zonked out), has even been barking for biscuits (that he can't eat). Made me realise how quiet he was over the weekend as he didn't do his nightly bark at the biscuit tin!!
