Can anyone pass on any pearls of wisdom on the above topic?

I could also do with some clarification on Driving licences, lorry weights etc.

My licence is from 1995 so I think I can drive up to a 7.5 ton lorry - is that right? The other thing I get confused on is laden and unladen weights?

Thank you

Laden = full weight so the Max a lorry can carry with nags and clobber in. So 7.5T, 6.5T and 3.5T are the norm

Unladen = weight without the nags and clobber. So you can work out the max amount of nags and clobber you can carry as laden - unladen.

If you want to carry 3 you really need an unladen of 5.5T on a 7.5t gross weight

CotswoldSJ is right. then allow about 1/2 a tonne per horse, and allow plenty for water, and for weight of full diesel tank (i.e. make sure it's weighed with tank full... ) these could make a big difference, a cubic metre of water weighs a tonne).
