HI. My current sharer wont be able to ride in the winter due to work commitments etc. She doesnt ride enough really anyway and as I have mentioned before my boy does like his hacking and jumping and does need to keep the weight off (altho our winter paddocks look like they might be assisting his diet whether we want them to or not

). Do many of you have more than 1 sharer for your horses? Another livery lady is just about to do the same which is what gave me the idea. Any ideas, thoughts and offers of interest are greatly appreciated thank you.

I'm coming at this from a sharers point of view and I think you should go for it. As long as you keep current sharer informed, there's no reason why it shouldn't be fine. Only point I might be a little concerned about is logistics - with 3 people involved, communication may become tricky. Do you currently have set days sharer does? This might make it easier to organise who cares for the horse and when, but makes things less flexible.

I was exercising a horse, the owner then got a sharer too and at this point a diary for the horse was introduced, so that every time anyone rode the mare it could be logged. It was invaluable to keep a check of how much work the horse was doing, because otherwise no-one would have had the full picture.

shame youre not closer! i use a whiteboard system at the moment (and facebook) cos i like to know when and where he was ridden so we dont double up too much (so he doesnt get bored) and make sure he gets enough exercise. also re food and lotions etc. we dont have set days at the moment as i try to be flexible but yes this would need to change. thanks for your thoughts very helpful.
